Ministry Update: Warren and Brenda Henderson, Assembly News

AssemblyNews - Warren HendersonDear Praying Saints,

Outreach: “God, I am a sinner, please save me through your Son.” That was Joe’s prayer last month at our kitchen table. Praise the Lord! He is in his 50s and said that this was the first time he had ever prayed aloud to God.
The change has been dramatic, he now smiles, has joy, and for the first time he comes to the Bible study with his lessons done. He is reading his Bible daily and is talking to others about the Lord. We thank the Lord for Brenda’s two after school clubs this past semester, over forty children attended. Please continued to pray for Kim, the husband of Connie who came to Christ last year.

Discipleship: We continue to have two weekly Bible studies in our home, each with a children’s work. The young men’s study class just finished for the year; we recently focused on worldviews, world-religions, and homiletics. I am presently discipling three young men via online studies.

Writing: The Beginning of Wisdom – a Devotional Study of Psalms, Proverbs, Ecclesiastes, and Song of Solomon is in editing.Relativity to Redemption (Judges and Ruth) is in technical review. I am presently studying and writing on Job – what a book! A devotional on Leviticus, Be Holy and Come Near was published earlier this year.

Itinerate Ministry: In the last three months ministry was provided in Canada (ON), GA, IL, and three assemblies in KS. Ministry is planned for Canada (AB and BC), KS, PA, MO, and OK through August.

Family News: After six years of nursing, Kate has decided to return to school to obtain her practitioner license. She remains missions-minded, helps edit my books, and is nearly finished with her own book Disciplines of the Heart, which includes a study guide. Our son Matthew, his wife Ashley, and our two grandchildren live in SC, where he works as an engineer. We are thankful that they are in happy fellowship in their home assembly and being used there. Trey, God-willing will enter the Kansas Highway Patrol academy in early July. He has an associate’s degree in science and a good start on a bachelor’s degree in criminal law. We are thankful that his conditional offer is for the county just ten miles from our location. This month is a bitter-sweet moment for our family; our youngest, Kelsi, has just graduated from High School, which brings to close 22 years of homeschooling. She is interested in computer science and plans to take classes at a local college. She had her senior violin recital recently, which we also used as a graduation party. Besides thanking her Suzuki teachers she included the following testimony on the back of her program. We are thankful that several unsaved souls were in attendance and also for her love for the Lord:

Some of you might have noticed that I look a little different than my parents. They adopted me from one of the poorest provinces in China when I was only nine months old. My physical condition was not good at that time (severe ear infection, smelly clothes, and no diaper smile[1]). But they adopted me and brought me into their family.

When I was two I had an emergency medical condition which would have likely resulted in my death, if I were still in a Chinese orphanage. In short, their adoption saved me out of a desperate situation and also saved my life. I am very thankful. I love my family!

Years later, I learned of my sinful condition before God and His solution – forgiveness of sins through the substitutionary death of His Son, the Lord Jesus. In faith, I trusted in Christ as my Savior, and was adopted again, but this time into God’s family: “But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name” (John 1:12). My parents cleaned me up after my first adoption; God cleansed me of all guilt in my second. It is wonderful to be forgiven and to be a child of God. My first adoption saved my life, but my second saved my soul.

Thanks for praying for us and the ongoing work in Ottawa. It is hard to believe that we have been in KS four years already. May the Lord Jesus Christ richly bless you!

Warren on behalf of all the Hendersons
