Ministry Update: Global Connections in Missions – April 15, 2015
Allan & Marven, Singapore (Day 4)
20-22 April: The 5-yearly Asia Theological Association programme (re) accreditation visit to AGST Alliance. Allan is preparing the interview schedule with faculty, students, graduates, Governing Board members, etc. who are spread far and wide (we may need to use Skype for several) and the institutional documentation for the ATA team of three to peruse. Please pray that this exercise will have a favourable outcome.
Dean & Kaylene, Mozambique(Day 6)
Kaylene has had her gynie surgery and it all went very well. Thanks to the many of you who have been praying for us. The Doc removed her very enlarged cysted ovaries and didn’t find any sign of any nasties while in there. He is fairly confident these are not malignant cysts going by looks but we can’t be certain until biopsy results are known early next week – so continued prayer would be valued. Thanks for all the expressions of love, support and prayer from so many.
Graham & Betty, Guatemala(Day 17)
We praise and thank the Lord for answering the prayers of so many of you who prayed for Graham speaking at the Spanish Easter Services in Houston. He still has six weeks of treatment but his voice was loud and clear and the congregation, even children, listened extremely well.
Mary, Thailand (Day 3)
From the 23rd April to the 5th May I will be joining a team from my sending church as we connect with our partner church in Bangkok. We will run a children’s English program like Vacation Bible School, and will visit church members. Please cover this trip in prayer – for health, team unity, and against the spiritual warfare that will occur.
Kathleen & Anita, Colombia(Day 17)
Some 60 youth leaders on Thursday and 80 the following day, Good Friday, were present at a training workshop as a preparation for ongoing intensive evangelism. It’s their feet you see in the photo, the feet of those who bring good news … who proclaim salvation. (Isa 52:7). Praise God we were given the privilege to teach their orientation course. Pray the flame lit will burn with passion to share the good news of salvation with the lost.
Murray & Ruth, UK (Day 9)
Pray for the eighteen participants (nine each week) at the two retreats we will run in the east Med. region (April 15 – May 1). Pray they will leave their busy-ness and be free to receive from God. Some are pastors and their wives, others are directors of international Christian organisations and their wives, and a few are new believers — young and old.
Rick & Annemarie, (Day 11)
Rick is thankful to be involved this week in a training event for coaching and mentoring leaders and would appreciate your prayers for the team as some of them teach and others are assigned people to work alongside. Pray for those that are participating and for good relationships to be built as they work closer together in the coming months.
From there Rick heads to a training event where he and a friend will be putting on a course that helps those attending to see if coaching is something they are gifted at and would like to learn more of. Pray that they will work well together and for the last details to be finalised.
Ian & Judith, India (Day 5)
March was a busy month for us! Cell groups met for farewell dinners, Ian and I host dessert evenings for the graduands, Judith assisted with planning for the Commencement and Graduation events. Ian had two major meetings at Board level on top of all his regular stuff. We thank God that everything went well and we were delighted to send 75 graduates out into the big wide world to work for the Kingdom! We also had visits from Orewa Bible Church and Bright Hope World. We are now back in NZ for the Summer holidays catching up with family, friends and home sending churches. Ian has a conference and meetings in the USA next week and would appreciate prayer for uneventful travel and productive meetings with people there.
Jude, Kenya (Day 8)
Please pray for Jude whose return to East Africa has been delayed due to pending surgery. Please pray for a date for surgery soon and for a good recovery. Please also pray for opportunities and discussions regarding the biblically based Economic Empowerment Curriculum and training.
Murray & Joy, Travelling Overseas (Day 20)
Please pray for our Congolese partner, Dr Serge’s application for a visa for UK, as it is currently in South Africa being processed. Serge has been invited and sponsored to attend a Christian Medical Conference in the UK in June. He has been advised by UK immigration that the application is not straightforward and will require more time than the target of fifteen working days to reach a decision. Your prayers for this application to be successful would be appreciated.
Karl & Amy, USA (Day 16)
Pray for the upcoming Indigitous # events in South Africa, Mauritius, Albania, Ghana, and Romania, that they would mobilize people locally for each of their countries with digital resources. Pray as we sort out the details for returning to New Zealand later this year.
