Pray & Support: Great Commission India Ministries, Kerala, India

There are 171,847,466 (14.2%) Muslims in India as per reliable statistics. Indeed it is a painful fact, that as far as the true children of God are concerned, this group of people have so far not heard about Jesus Christ who is the only way of salvation. Apostle Paul in his epistles to the Romans and the Corinthians writes very seriously about the need for the preaching of the gospel of Christ Jesus. “I am debtor both to the Greeks, and to the Barbarians; both to the wise, and the unwise. So, as much as in me is, I am ready to preach the Gospel to you that are at Rome also.” (Rom 1:14, 15). Since God will judge the secrets of men through Christ Jesus and also according to the gospel of Jesus Christ, we are indebted to this community to proclaim the gospel. If so, it is our irresponsible approach, towards the third largest religious demography in the world that has resulted in them not being evangelized.

I hail from a Moulavi (Priest) family, which is actively involved in the priestly activities. I had memorized the Quran and gained Islamic Understanding. I was also brought up in strict religious discipline. At the age of thirteen, I had to present an essay on ‘Sura Ibrahim.’ While preparing for this essay, I came across a verse in the Quran which says, “Allah sends astray [thereby] whom He wills and guides whom He wills” (Sura Ibrahim verse 4). A question arose before me concerning this verse that is Allah a real God? As he is leading and misleading people according to his will? These questions took me on a quest for the truth. Yet I did not refer any book other than the Quran, owing to my religious fanaticism. Moreover, I did not believe in the Bible, because I had a wrong notion that the Bible had undergone many corrections. Because of these convictions, my stand with Quran was affirmed.

When I joined college after my school years, my doubts increased which led me to a Christian prayer group. This prayer group answered my questions concerning salvation through Jesus Christ and Biblical truths. This truth gave me the insight that I am spiritually dead and that I can obtain eternal salvation only through faith in Jesus Christ. I experienced an invisible power that led me to understand the Bible truths and it continued till I accepted Lord Jesus as my Saviour on January 26th, 1985. I was relieved when I realised that now I am exempted from eternal damnation. Although, my relationship with family, (especially my mother) and friends were strained, I gained an inner peace that enabled me to share the gospel to the unreached.

I have been working as an evangelist for the last 25 years in association with the Brethren assemblies in India. Many have come to the Lord and some assemblies have been formed by the grace of God. During these years, I was burdened in my heart to share the gospel to my own people. The ministry, Great Commission India stemmed from this desire.

I. First Method of Ministry

Since the last two years, I have been working among the Muslim population to share the gospel with them. The methods employed to equip those interested in sharing the gospel among the Muslims involve, conducting training programs, conferences, correspondence and online courses. Till date, we have conducted 25 one day conferences and three Training programs in different parts of India.

To support this program we have printed a booklet called ‘Understanding Islam’ and the other 12 volumes are under preparation. We are presenting these courses through Power Point in Hindi, English and Malayalam. More than a thousand candidates were equipped by these programs to understand the importance of ministering the word among the Muslims.

We are prayerfully planning to conduct 30 one day conferences in the districts of Kerala. In the remaining parts of India, we are planning to conduct 100 one day conferences, 25 – Three day training programs.

II. Second Method of Ministry

Creating awareness to the trainees to be able to reach the Muslim community with all politeness and humility, without any unnecessary arguments or debates. Advertisements will be published in major Indian newspapers about the free distribution of booklets in different languages. We are in great need of preparing and printing booklets in many languages to educate the Muslim community. Prayerfully and with much burden, we are planning to achieve our goals by 2015 to reach our aim of Muslim evangelization by 2015, to save a community from ignorance and eternal hellfire.

Prayer Requests:

1. For the salvation of souls.

2. To free thousands of Muslims from the cunning of Satan.

3. To be able to complete all the proposed programs at the right time in 2015.

4. That the trainees may enter the ministry with all diligence and commitment.

5. Financial support for one day seminars and training programs, printing training materials, booklets, tracts, free portal courses for Muslims and office expenses including monthly rent.
