Gospel efforts amongst eunuchs: Brethren Gospel Ministries Trust
The person in this picture looks like a woman, acts like a woman, uses a female name, and likes to be addressed as a woman. Yet her voice somehow resembles that of a man. That is because she is a Eunuch.
There are an estimated 5,000,000 (five million) eunuchs in India, but they are complete social outcasts. People mock and tease them. They cannot get a ration card or government identity cards. As a result they cannot get most of the facilities that you and I take for granted. Their condition is worse than that of lepers because lepers at least get alms easily whereas these people have to do all kinds of shameful things — including homosexual prostitution — to get some money thrown at them.
I met a eunuch for the first time when I was 5 and since then I wanted to share the gospel with them — which I started doing when I was 18. Today Brethren Gospel Ministry has a thriving ministry among them.
We cannot report fully about our work because of the violent nature of the mafia that controls the majority of them. One of our non Christian friends who had been trying to offer literacy-training to them (partially) with our help was murdered by the gang leaders some time ago. Thus our options for public reporting of the work is limited.
Kindly pray for this ongoing work. If you are exercised to support this work, then contact jcphilip@gmail.com for more information.
Brethren Gospel Ministries is actively involved in ‘Reaching Those Who Are Least Reached’, particularly among the social outcasts and the poorest among the poor in the Chambal region of MP, and also in several other parts of India.
