Ministry Update: India Ministry International, California
Santa Carla, California:
New Year Greetings in the precious name of our Lord. There is so much to praise and thank the Lord. There were fewer but longer journeys for ministry in 2013, and I was able to sent updates. During the fall I was “down under.”
Fiji: Half of the population of this island in the Pacific are of Indian origin. The British took their forefathers there to work in sugar plantations. This is where you find the most open Hindu people to listen to the gospel. In my experience of witnessing, this was the first time I preached and witnessed at sugar cane plantations. Our motto was “a soul a day.” When we reached about 30 people to pray with us to receive the Lord, we stopped counting. What a harvest of souls! We praise the Lord for those who preceded us in sowing the seed of the gospel to these Hindus. Many Hindus have showed much hospitality to us. Many open, friendly people are waiting for our return. Before that I want to help my co-worker in Fiji to build a flood room upstairs for his house. In the last rainy season, he lost everything, and his house was under water for 56 hrs. I can’t imagine the situation.
New Zealand: It’s a two hours flight from Fiji, however a world apart. Many people from Fiji found a safer environment in New Zealand. In New Zealand I was able to witness to several different ethic groups from the Pacific Islands. There is one thing in common with all these people, that they are very open, friendly, and hospitable people. Many have invited me back to minister to them. I simply wish I would be ten years younger for the task. However, Catherine (Miss Catherine Hollister Jones QMS) my friend, at age 95, is still an inspiration in serving the Lord. I first met her in the early 70’s in Punjab, India. I was glad to spend a weekend with her in Tauranga, New Zealand. My good friends Vishwa and Madhu Madaliar made all the arrangements. Thank you Lord for the many kind hearted people.
Australia: I had a very good time of ministering in this great land. I was surprised to discover that India has now taken over China as the source of most immigrants to Australia. The main group was of people from the Indian subcontinent. Many are economic immigrants, others are refugees and boat people. Most of these people need the Lord and are from Hindu background. On my re-visit to Albury, I had the opportunity to visit the homes of refugees from Bhutan. I definitely have an invitation from Perth, my last stop, to return. May the Lord enable me to do so. I request your prayers for health and strength.
In the New Year I will be heading to South India. There are towns that still without a witness. Do pray for Varkala, and the scattered brethren in Chirayinkizhu. I am planning for a week of ministry in North Kerala, Malabar. There are many towns in this region also without a witness.
At the invitation of some brethren, I will be in Tamil Nadu to help in a workers conference in a remote part of this state. Pray for: Protection, Provision, and Health.
Thank you for your partnership in the gospel,
Yours That The Hindus May Hear,
Pushpan
