Uplook Ministries: Cross Canada Cruisers 2013 – Updates

Cross Canada Cruisers 2013

What is C3? It is a missionary outreach that brings young men together for a whole summer with the main goals of studying the Bible, encouraging Canadian assemblies and bringing the gospel to the lost.

For the First two weeks, we are in Grand Rapids, Michigan for Bible orientation. On Wednesday (12 June), we went in the neighbourhood around the Grace & Truth Christian Fellowship in Grand Rapids to give more than 900 invitations for the Revival Meetings and the Kids club that take place from Monday to Friday this week. Pray that the Lord may bring the people from the neighbourhood to the meetings and the kids club, and that he may open their hearts to the gospel.

Update 2

Last week we learned how to present the gospel using sketch boards. Layton Kerr instructed us in doing outdoor outreaches, and how to converse with people effectively. So last Friday (June 28) we had our first outdoor outreach in downtown Ottawa. Each one on the team preached using the sketchboard and gave out tracts. We had some great conversations.

On Saturday (June 29), we went to the new location of Downtown Outreach Bible Chapel (DOBC) to help move everything from the old location and build a wall to separate the place for the Sunday school and the place for the meetings.

On Sunday (June 30), we were asked to preach and to teach the Sunday school, so Jacob and Ben did the morning preaching, and Jordan and I taught the Sunday school.

Monday was Canada Day so we had open air outreach from 10:30 am to 5:30 pm. Four Christians from Québec came to give us a hand. We did sketch board presentations, skits and gave out about 5000 tracts. We had great conversations and people stopped to listen. Pray for all those who heard and received the gospel during this first week in Ottawa.

Thursday (July 3), we’ll move to another home for the week. The team will do a lot of door-to-door visitation with the Bridlewood assembly and one or two outdoor outreaches, so we have a big week coming up.

Thank you for your prayers.

For the C3 team,
Matthieu

There are still a few weeks available at the end of the summer. We value your prayer fellowship in all of these matters!

Update 3

This week we were in Bridlewood Bible Chapel in Kanata, ON. We went to the mid-week meeting on Wednesday (July 3) and prayed for the evangelisation in the neighbourhood. After the meeting, we went outside to get into the car and there was a 14 year old boy in the parking lot playing basketball. His name was Michael. He knew a lot about the Bible and we shared the gospel with him. He understood that he needed to accept Christ as his Savior and he received Him the same night. He was at Bridlewood chapel with us this morning (Sunday, July 7).

On Thursday (July 4), the team had morning teaching with George Ferrier. We spent the rest of the day in the Bridlewood parks doing kid’s activities and giving gospel booklets and invitations for the Saturday electronic recycling event and the Sunday BBQ. We went to a skate park before dinner and we were able to preach the gospel to 5 kids there and gave them copies of the New Testament. They understood that they had to receive God’s gift of salvation as soon possible.

Friday (July 5) after the morning teaching, we went out for door-to-door visitation in the afternoon distributing gospel booklets and invitations. For the evening we went back into downtown Ottawa to do sketchboard preaching and give out tracts. We had great conversations. I talked with a guy named Daryl and he understood the gospel but wanted to receive Christ personally. I referred him to Downtown Outreach Bible Chapel for a Bible study tomorrow (July 8). Pray that he attends.

Saturday (July 6), there was the recycling event during the day so people were invited to bring us their old electronics giving us an occasion to talk with them. We went back for door-to-door during the afternoon. Once again it was a great time. Pray for Angela who is searching for something else than what the world has to offer.

There was an invitation to attend the Sunday meeting before the BBQ today (July 7), and some people joined us and heard a clear message of the gospel and joined us for the BBQ.

So next week, we will work with the Rideauview assembly.

Thank you for your prayers.

Matthieu

Update 4

Last week we were at Rideauview Bible Chapel. Each morning we enjoyed Bible teaching with David Hood.

Monday (July 8), Wednesday (July 10), and Thursday (July 11) evenings, we went in the neighbourhood around the chapel to do door-to-door visitation. We did a survey to know more about the neighbourhood and its need. People were very receptive and we were able to do more than 80 surveys. By using the survey, we were able to talk with the people about their beliefs and share the gospel. At the same time, we gave invitations for a community barbecue organized by the chapel planned for Saturday.

On Tuesday (July 9) evening, we took the Oldsmobile to a car show for the first time. The object lesson we use with the classic car: Ruined, Rescued, Restored.

Friday (July 12) evening, we went back to downtown Ottawa for the third time. Once again we had a great time. Two weeks ago I had the opportunity to speak with 3 young French Canadians, and last Friday, they were there once again so we talked together. Two of them understood the gospel and now they know that they have to make a choice. They said they were going to be there next Friday with more questions. Pray that God may open their eyes.

On Saturday (July 13), the chapel hosted a barbecue and we had a great response to the invitations. Almost the same number of people from the neighbourhood attended as from the chapel.

This week we are back to the Kerr family house. We will work in new projects in Ottawa where we will do door-to-door visitation and outdoor preaching.

For the C3 team,
Matthieu

Next week C3 will be in Brantford at Bethel-Park Bible Chapel. This map and it’s boundaries in the red are where we hope to make the door to door outreach in hopes that the Lord will convince people to come to a car show and gospel outreach with Gary Weeks and Wayne Marshall. Please keep the area of Eagle Place in your prayers, as it’s a very run down part of Brantford.

Update 5

Last week we were back at the Kerr’s in Ottawa for another intense evangelisation week. We visited door-to-door from Tuesday to Friday (July 16-19) under the heat and sun in the sector around Downtown Outreach Bible Chapel (DOBC). We distributed a package including tracts, a VIA magazine (Gospel Magazine), an audio CD and information about the chapel. Most of the people were receptive to the package and we have multiple contacts for follow-up.

On Wednesday (July 17) and Friday (July 19) evenings, we preached in downtown Ottawa using the sketch board. When we returned from preaching late Wednesday we saw something different about the C3 truck. From a distance we thought that the trucks tailgate had been left open or that maybe somebody opened the tailgate and had stolen some of our stuff from the trunk. Getting closer we finally discovered that someone stole… our TAILGATE!!! Yes… the tailgate. So we have been travelling without a tailgate for the last days. We used a rope to keep everything in the trunk and we are going to replace the tailgate this week. So without this last issue, we had a great time preaching and sharing the gospel in Ottawa.

There was a Car Show/Barbecue at Boulter Gospel Chapel on Saturday (July 20). We had a great time there with the brothers and sisters and it was a great opportunity to share the gospel.

On Sunday (July 21), we remembered the Lord at the Boulter assembly and for the evening we were in Bancroft, where we spoke at the evening meeting.

Now we are at Bethel-Park Bible Chapel in Brantford for the week. We are visiting door-to-door all week so please pray for a good reception.

For the C3 team,
Matthieu

Update 6

On Monday (July 22), we arrived in Brantford, ON for a barbecue at Bethel-Park Bible Chapel where we helped during the week.

During the mornings from Tuesday to Friday (July 23-26), we had Bible teaching in Timothy 1 led by Jerry Denny.

Tuesday (July 23) afternoon we handed out invitations in the neighbourhood for the car show. During the evening, we went to the skate park and preached the gospel to the people there and gave out New Testaments.

On Wednesday (July 24) and Thursday (July 25) afternoons, we went door-to-door to give invitations for the car show and for the kids club. In the evening, a lot of people came to the car show and a number of them were kids from the skate park. The Lord blessed the effort and He gave us great opportunities to share the gospel. There was also a book table at the show and we had to refill it a couple of times.

Friday (July 26) afternoon, we went door-to-door to give invites for the kids club and get into conversation with people.

On Saturday (July 27) afternoon, we held the kids club. There was rain this day so we weren’t able to have it outside but the Lord still brought kids to hear about what He did for them.

This week we are in Windsor, ON with Oakwood Bible Chapel and we are going to do a lot of door-to-door evangelism!

THANK YOU FOR YOUR PRAYERS!!

For the C3 team,
Matthieu

Update 7

Sorry for the long wait!

Here is a quick update for weeks 8, 9 and the beginning of week 10.

During week 8 (Jul 28-Aug 3), we were in Windsor at Oakwood Bible Chapel. We visited door-to-door the entire week. In the packages we distributed was a Bible verse poster and an invitation for a Bible Kids Club hosted by Oakwood.

Then we were in Toronto helping the Jesus Network for week 9 (Aug 4-10). The team visited in apartment buildings where 80% to 90% of the people were Muslim.

On Monday (5th), we prepared the “Jesus” DVDs and newspapers for distribution during the week. The DVD is a film depicting the life of the Lord. The newspaper was about people, most of them Muslims, who had discovered peace in Jesus Christ.

Tuesday (6th) and Wednesday (7th), we visited in the apartment buildings again and tried to leave a DVD and a newspaper at every home. We were able to have great discussions with the Muslim residents. Jacob and I talked for about 2 hours with a Muslim couple and we arranged another meeting on Friday.

On Thursday (8th) we did the same thing until 3 pm when we joined Gary Weeks in downtown Toronto for street preaching.  We had a great time with the brothers who came to help and each one of us found something to do. We don’t know the impact the Word had on people but we know God said “it shall not return unto Me void”.

On Friday (9th), we went for an other round in the buildings and were able to have our second conversation with the Muslim couple. We talked at least for 3 ½ hours. A seed was planted and the husband wanted a full Bible. Please pray for this family.

Week 10 – Tillsonburg!

We have been visiting door to door for the last few days. On Tuesday evening, we were at a car show. We distributed packages which included a gospel tract, a verse poster and an invitation to a BBQ on Saturday (Aug 17). Pray that people may read the tracts and come to the BBQ to hear the gospel preached.

Thank you for your prayers!

For the C3 team,
Matthieu
