Praise: Thanksgiving meeting of new Assembly Hall, Tamil Nadu, Kerala
Christianpet, Tamil Nadu, India:
Date: July 20, 2013
We are delighted to inform all our Assembly brethren that the century-old Assembly Hall built in 1842 at Christianpet, a small village at the foot of the Western Ghats mountain range presently in Virudhungar District of Tamilnadu by Mr. J. C. Arulappan, the first national Tamil worker has since been demolished and a new concrete Hall built in its place is going to be opened with a thanksgiving meeting on 20th July 2013 in the presence of the people of God. The property stands in the name of Stewards Association In India. Fellowship shown by the local Assembly and the people of God from all over the world for the construction of this new Hall to the extent about Rs. 30 lakhs is praiseworthy. Although most of the local believers are economically weak, they have not only contributed sacrificially but also voluntarily engaged themselves in the labour force.
As a matter of fact, the Assembly work in Tamilnadu has been initiated only from this place. It virtually dates back to the first visit of Bro. A.N. Groves to India in 1833. When he had been to Tirunelveli area which is the southernmost part of South Tamilnadu, to help a German missionary by name Rhenius in his difficulties with the Christian Missionary Society, he happened to meet Arulappan belonging to this place who had been converted through the ministry of Rhenius. Arulappan travelled with Groves throughout South India, translating for him wherever necessary. Ultimately Arulappan became a full time worker. He along with his converted Christians built this village and called it as CHRISTIANPET where they worked, worshipped and preached till the end. Thereafter, many Assemblies were established by his efforts in this area. In recognition of his faithful service, two villages in this area in which our Assembly work had been established are named after him viz., ARULACHI, ARULPUTHUR. We thank God for this faithful man of God who is remembered by His people even after two decades of his being promoted to glory. What he had done for his Master still speaks. His mortal remains has been interred at Christianpet itself.
Now there exists a large Assembly consisting of about 200 believers. Let us praise God for the blessings of the labour put forth by this pioneer servant of God and pray that the Lord bless the gathering on 20th July for His glory.
