Ministry Update: India Ministry International

Reaching Indians Globally and Locally For Christ

Dear Praying Friends,

“Remember your leaders, who spoke the word of God to you. Consider the outcome of their way of life and imitate their faith” (Hebrews 13:7).

This verse was in my mind as I set out to India in the early Spring. There was a very specific reason for that, in January of 1970, I had moved from Rajasthan to Gujarat with an OM team. The leader of that team was with me in Rajasthan. He took me along to Gujarat, I was a brand new believer. The good Lord used this brother to smoothen some of my rough edges. Now many years passed, I never met him again till early March of this year in Ahmedabad, Gujarat.

Gujarat: The main focus of this trip was Northwest India, my pioneer field. Gujarat is a tough place then and now. The Gujaratis are not open to the gospel and we face considerable opposition all the time. With the help of the leader I mentioned above, I had the opportunity to minister to sinners and saints. What an enjoyable, blessed time again back in Gujarat after 43 years. My leader is still there, with a manner of life still challenging. Would you pray for Gujarat, and the ongoing work of God there, and many people yet need to be reached.

Rajasthan: North India Bible Institute (NIBI) has been in Alwar for the past 25 years. Under the good leadership, the college was graduating Godly workers for the harvest field. I was there for their graduation and Silver Jubilee and provided a humble role in the state where I started my ministry. I was able to visit and minister in Ajmer and Jaipur. I was very challenged by the commitment of some of my long standing friends in that dry land. There are many people who have never heard the name of the Lord Jesus even once. What a privileged people we are.

Haryana: I was based here for almost a month. This is a barren state, with only 0.08% Christians of any sort. My younger brother is a missionary there based in the fast growing city of Gurgaon. I had many opportunities of sharing the gospel with non-Christians here.

I was particularly challenged by the predicament of the street children in this city. My brother and others from the church round up about 46 of these children from Monday to Friday to run a day school. These are not street children, but they are on the streets during the day while Mom and Dad work at the construction site as day labourers. They have no time and place to care for these children. They are not up to the level to get into regular school. So they are equipped and helped to a certain level to get a regular education. We felt it were a worthwhile investment to be behind these children. They are not only taught the lessons, but the word of God.

Punjab: My last stop was Punjab. We spent two solid nights there till early hours ministering to a couple. I also had the joy of sharing the word of God in the assembly (Bible Bhavan- Chandigarh) where I was baptized.

The trip also had its own challenges. I was saddened to get the news from Chirayinkizu near Varkala in Kerala that they were attacked soon after I left by anti-Christians. That was the first place in this trip I preached, a small gathering of believers were formed and meeting. Since the March 10th attack, they are scattered. Do pray for them, particularly their leaders. How privileged we are to have the peace as believers and to gather together as we desire.

Hebrews 13:8, “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever.”

Thank you for standing with me for Northwest India.

Yours That The Indians May Hear,
