Emmaus Ministries Update: March 19, 2013

Emmaus Ministries Update: Mar 19, 2013

  • Senegal – David Astier – The office manager of the Emmaus work in Senegal, Michel Sarr, unexpectedly passed away on January 5 from heart failure. This loyal coworker, was converted by studying Emmaus Bible courses in 1988, and has managed the literature depot since 2000.
  • South Africa – Marlon Govender – The post office is on strike from February 14 and we have not received or sent any mail since. Please pray:    For the strike to end quickly & that the huge amounts of bulk mail would be delivered safely, although late, and not be dumped/destroyed as it was several years ago.
  • ECS International Coordinator – Jim Fleming -Please pray for – Jim & Sharon as they make 4 flights today from Dubuque to Bogota, Colombia. Also, for Jim as he interacts with the ECS All-Colombia team at their conference in the Western city of Pereira, Wednesday–Friday this week.
  • Pennsylvania – Mary Ann Bell – Pray that we will be able to build the ministry back after the Post Office problem. Lots of miracles that the Lord has been doing, not enough space to share but all I can say is to God is the Glory, He is in the details.
  • Pennsylvania – Bill Hulshizer – I thought you might be encouraged, prayer works.
  • We have a program where we offer a large-print Bible to inmates that collect 20 inmates’ names that are interested in starting into the correspondence program. To date we have had 26 inmates in Mississippi, 59 from Connecticut, and 48 from Massachusetts complete this program and enroll 20 inmates each. In Mississippi, these have come in from 16 different prisons, some with which we had little activity before. Please continue to pray that our God will make this work in Connecticut and New England states as He has in Mississippi.
