Pray & Support: Sisters Training Centre, Jharkhand, India
Letter from Sis. Rinu Santhosh Thomas:
Sisters Training Centre – (A unit of the Bengal Bible Training Institute (BBTI)
Dearly Beloved Brothers and Sisters,
By the Grace of God, the ministries are going on well here. In the present Bible School batch of the BBTI, we have 16 students from seven North Indian states and one from Nepal. Over the years, as many of you know, more than a hundred native brethren studied in the BBTI and most of them are now fruitfully serving the Lord in different parts of the North India.
We, as a family, are serving the Lord here in Jamtara, Jharkhand. The Lord brought me to this place in 2000. Since then I have been assisting the various ministries of the BBTI along with my husband, Evangelist Santhosh Thomas. The Lord has been using me here among the sisters, teaching them and encouraging them in the Word.
Jharkhand and West Bengal are highly populated with Santhal Tribe and hundreds of other people-groups. In the year 2003, we conducted a Sisters Bible Study Seminar for two weeks in the BBTI. The sisters then were excited by the Seminar. The Lord therefore enabled us to conduct a few more Bible Study seminars for the sisters in the following years.
For the past several years, we have been praying for a separate Sisters Bible Institute, where our sisters can be trained and equipped to serve the Lord among their own villages and communities. We do not have any facility or opportunity for our sisters to be trained anywhere in the North and therefore we felt a great need for a Bible Institute dedicated for the training of these sisters. For this purpose, we also prayed with the sisters of the Assemblies in these states and they all encouraged and assured us of their help.
A Sisters Bible Training Institute in North India will be a giant leap toward the evangelization efforts among women in North India. We foresee a transformation of the lives of our sisters as a result of such training to be imparted to them with the consequence of transference of this qualitative transformation to many of the downtrodden communities where these sisters are hailing from. An institution of this genre could therefore be instrumental in transforming ordinary village girls into mighty women of God with commitment and vision to positively impact many societies, cultures and language groups.
The Lord has been providing us the resources for the building of class rooms, halls, hostels, kitchen and dining rooms along with the other infrastructure for this pioneering ministry. We continue to look to the Lord for His provisions. By faith, we started the construction work of the Training Centre Building in January 2012. We are also planning, along with the Bible Training programme, to impart some self-help or tent-making skills for these needy sisters most of whom hail from the poorest of the poor of the North Indian villages. We would also want to shelter some of those sisters who are cast out of their homes (excommunicated) for the sake of the Gospel.
We continue to look to the LORD to raise His children with the burden for the North Indian evangelism. Thank you for all your support and fellowship hitherto.
Yours in HIS service
