Pray For Nepal: Update from CMML

Brethren Living in Tents

Later this month, a short-term missions team from Texas will minister and help with relief work in Nepal. The following note is from our brother James who is leading the group. Please pray for effectiveness and safety.

“Nepal was hit with another big aftershock at 7.4. Some are calling it a completely separate earthquake, not an aftershock. It happened 52 miles east of Kathumandu. Elders are scrambling to find out any damages. So far, they have not heard of any death or injuries but a few more houses have fallen.

Thanks to all the support from the Lord’s people. We have prepared most of the solar lanterns, water filters and medicine which will be very useful.

Please continue to pray for Nepal and for the safety of the team.”

Continue to prayer for the people of Nepal. More than 7,300 people have died and more than double that number have been injured. We know that Christians are among those who have lost their lives. Pray for the many families who have lost loved ones as well as the thousands who have lost their homes and livelihoods. Some assembly buildings have been damaged (one pictured).

Local assemblies as well as foreign aid organizations are working to provide relief. Attached are photos of relief supplies from the Pokhara Christian Community in Nepal being distributed to needy people in remote districts.

If you feel led to help financially, CMML has the ability to forward your gifts to the Christians in Nepal. Checks should be marked “Nepal, disaster relief”; gifts sent via our website can be given under the general “disaster relief” designation (www.CMML.us/donate).

The severe earthquake that struck Nepal on Saturday continues to dominate the media and the death toll continues to rise (today over 4400). We are deeply concerned for those affected by this tragedy and are praying for the immediate relief efforts to bring emergency supplies, food and shelter to the thousands who have been displaced and lost their homes.

The two CMML families serving in Nepal are safe.

There are 10 assemblies in Nepal. Many assemblies have been developed by Korean commended workers. A number of the assembly buildings have been severely damaged. Some assembly believer’s homes have been destroyed and they are living in tents.

We have received conflicting reports as to fatalities and injuries among the believers.

As more information becomes available and opportunities arise to help with relief efforts we will keep you updated. Please continue to pray.
