Ministry Update: ECS Ministries – Aug 8, 2016

ecs-logo300x300medDear Brethren,

Thank you for praying for the many aspects of ECS Ministries.

Prayer Items

Zambia – Paul Poidevin
Thank the Lord that Romans is printed in Luvale! We distribute at the many conferences we attend. Pray that souls will be saved during this camp season. Pray for the students to do the Emmaus course they take home!

Colombia – Gilberto Vanegas (Bogotá)
Pray that a pastor who has studied 40 Emmaus courses in the city of Ibague, will open a distribution center. Also pray for one in the city of Villavicencio.

Sri Lanka – anonymous for security
He asks for prayer as he is extremely busy at the moment with responsibilities that put pressure on the time he wants for Emmaus, not to forget his family. Do we pray for the families of our Emmaus colleagues?

California – Tom Heyer
Please pray for the prison ministry team led by Tom Heyer at Shadow Mountain Community Church in California. Since March, SMCC has partnered with ECS to help grade and comment on exams. This has been a big help to the work. SMCC also is involved with many other facets of prison ministry work including support for ex-offenders, visiting inmates in jail, pen-pals, Angel Tree, and a Christmas card mail out.

Arizona – Dan Olney
Pray for ongoing programming issues for the grading system.
We have about 200 Spanish Language students and could enroll more but are struggling to find bilingual men and women to comment.
We have approached the Sr. Chaplain at Lewis Prison in Buckeye, AZ. with the idea of establishing an inmate grading and commenting program like Randy has at Missouri. Randy has been a huge help and has offered any support he can give (big blessing). Just need the approval (willingness) of the administrative staff.
Pray that God would continue to guide my steps in delegating a portion of the weekly work load.

Washington – John Martin
We are also focused on urgent prayer for Jim Cunningham, son of Phyllis Cunningham, an Emmaus worker for many years. Jim was hospitalized and is on breathing apparatus in Asheville. We do not know the exact diagnosis.
Just mailed out a pile of new courses and corrected courses, almost all of them to prisoners, this week. We have quite a bit of mail to send each week, so we pray for these who receive and do these courses. We appreciate prayer for Michele Cowan, Connie Nickerson and Lynn Lichty, who do the bulk of the correcting work.
