Grace & Peace – Be Ye Tranformed (Issue #120)

“Be Ye Transformed” Rom 12:2

One of the unique features of true Christian life is the transformation that is evident to all. “One thing I know: that though I was blind, now I see” is the testimony of a believer. Jn 9:25. It’s a sure and radical change. The evil possessed comes to the right mind, extortioner becomes a generous donor and persecutor becomes a preacher and so on. Cf. Mark 5: 1- 15; Luke 19: 1 – 9; Act 9: 1—6 etc.

Regeneration
It is the result of the regeneration one experiences through the working of the Holy Spirit using the word of God. Cf. Jn 1:12, 13; 3: 5 etc. “Therefore if anyone is in Christ he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.” 2Cori 5:17. According to Apostle John, with out such a fundamental change of character and conduct any claim of a Christian has to be questioned. Cf. 1Jn 1:6; 2:4, 9; 3:9; 4:20 etc.

Sanctification
However this transformation must be an ongoing process in which a Christian is being renewed in to the image of the Lord Jesus. “We all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed in to the same image from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord.” 2 Cori 318. Without this constant renewal, a believer’s life becomes undeveloped and that in turn leads to all kinds of spiritual maladies.
Just imagine a new born child but not growing as ought to be. Healthy growth means the internal as well as external changes in the life of the child in a progressive manner. Same with born again believer. 1Peter 2:1, 2. If there is no proportionate growth it’s abnormal for a new born spiritual babe. Scripture does not appreciate such a Christian life. Cf. 1Cori 3: 1—3; Heb 12: 12 – 14.
Just as the years pass by, do we have the natural change and progress in our spiritual life? Even as we read and listen to the life changing word of God, what transformation it has brought about in our practical life? How much change can we notice in our attitude and activities ever since we came to the Lord?
Remember, this outward display of change begins with our inside. Renewal of the mind by studying and meditating upon the word of God is basis for this transformation. Rom 12:2; Colo 3:10; Psa 119:11. Our thinking pattern must be changed. Constant communion with Lord and saturating our mind with His word are imperative to display a Christ-like character. 2Cori 3:184:16.
